3 Tips For Flaunt-Worthy Spring Hair

Spring is on the way, and that means change is in the air… and for your hair. Don’t let the humid weather get the best of you! Here are 3 tips to help you confidently flaunt your hair this spring.

Does this sound familiar? You shampooed the same as yesterday. You styled your hair just like usual. As soon as you left the house, you knew something was wrong. The air felt sticky. Maybe your hair frizzed out. Maybe your curls flattened or maybe your scalp just felt oily.

This isn’t the way you want to step into spring, but you don’t have to let the humid weather get the best of you. Here are 3 tips to help you confidently flaunt your hair this spring:

1. Eliminate Oil

Warm weather can create higher levels of oil production. Resist the urge to shampoo your hair more than once a day (some experts recommend only washing every other day or even longer). Frequent washing can trigger your scalp to produce even more oil, and nobody wants that!

With rising humidity, you may not need to condition as much as you did during dry winter days. Adding conditioner directly to your scalp will only add more oil to your roots, so apply it only to the mid-length and ends of the hair, which often need it the most.

2. Fight the Frizz

Frizzy hair can be another springtime annoyance, courtesy of humidity and spring showers. While those with straight hair often feel it may go limp in humidity, those with curly or naturally dry hair have the opposite problem.

You may find that your ringlets and curls might get tighter, or your hair may gain an unruly amount of volume. If this sounds like you, tame the frizz and lock in moisture by using moisturizing shampoos, oils, serums, leave-in conditioner, or creams.

3. Start Fresh

If winter’s dry, frosty air damaged your hair, get a trim to eliminate split ends. A haircut can help your hair feel healthier and look glossier, too. If you’re trying to maintain length, ask your stylist to simply “dust” the ends to promote healthy new hair growth.

A new season means the chance for a fresh new style! Consider lightening your hair one shade for a bright new look but remember to keep it conditioned as the weather is changing. (For ideas, check out our 35 colors.)
