Naturtint Permanent Hair Color 5N Light Chestnut Brown (Packaging may vary)

I mix 2/3 of 5N with 1/3 4N to achieve my natural color. I receive compliments all the time - most notably from hair stylists! This color stays so beautiful for so long (provided I wear hats in the sun). I’ve been using this brand in these colors for years and my hair condition is better after coloring. Simply the best permanent hair color I’ve found, bar none! My method is to apply color to roots, leave for 30 mins, then comb the root color through and apply the rest of the bottle, combing all through to the ends, a bit haphazardly so that there is some multi-tonal quality to the ends. Leave for another 7 mins.

This Is the only natural coloring I found that really covers the pesky grays. Many many years ago I tried a number of brands and nothing came close to Naturtint. Also, it’s mandatory for me for it to be vegan and cruelty free and I also wanted one that wasn’t loaded up with toxic chemicals. It will fade a bit with each washing, but I kind of like that it does because that way in case I left it on too long and it’s a little too dark to start with. I know that it will fade. Everyone’s hair grabs to different degrees so you do have to experiment with how many minutes is best to leave it on. Now that I leave it on a couple less minutes, then I did for many years, I’m liking the color better. A friend of mine who I turned onto this product, leaves it on twice as long as me and it comes out half as light on her! So everyone’s hair shaft absorption rate can be different. Since Gray roots show very strongly on brown hair, I do color often, but I don’t worry about it since this is such a natural product. And cost wise, they frequently have great sales so that you can stock up! :-)

It only covered my gray for about 2 weeks. I was hoping to get at least 4-5 weeks. I have stubborn grays. I left it on for 30 minutes because I was new to this product. I am planning on using again next week and planning on leaving it for 40 minutes before I rinse it. I would like to re-review once I do that. The conditioner was great. It leaves my hair shiny. I love the fact that it is healthier for my hair than drugstore brands and I really want to love it.
