5 Tips and Tricks for Great Curly Hair

Have a love/hate relationship with your curly hair? Embrace the bounce! Here are 5 tips to help make you totally satisfied with the wavy, kinky, bouncy locks you’ve got.

Do Not Wash Daily

We repeat: Put down the bottle! Shampoo has a tendency to dry out your hair and can strip the natural oils that keep your curls in line. Resist the urge to wash your hair every day and when you do, focus on cleansing the scalp with less lathering on your hair.

Condition…a Lot

It’s a fact: Hydrated curls are happy curls. You’ll get less frizz and more fab when your curls are properly moisturized. For healthy, hydrated hair, try applying our CC Cream Leave-in Conditioner. It’s free from nasty chemicals other brands use, protects from UV rays and extends the life of color-treated hair, too.

Never Brush

Curly hair experts know that brushes are the enemy of beautiful, bouncy curls. Comb conditioner through your hair in the shower. If you’ve got tangles, use your fingers to tease them out gently.

Ditch the Bath Towel

Try using a microfiber towel, or even a T-shirt, to squeeze out extra water before letting your curls air dry. You’ll be amazed at the difference a soft cloth makes.  Using a regular terry cloth towel creates friction, and friction equals fuzz.

Minimize Heat Styling

Air dry your curls as often as possible. Thermal damage from hair dryers and styling tools can include breakage, frizz, and extra dryness—so let your curls dry naturally whenever you can.

We developed our CC Cream Leave-in Conditioner to revitalize and soften your curls while protecting from fade after home coloring. When used regularly, CC Cream softens and detangles while taming frizz so you can fall in love with your curls once again.

  1. I found your ad in a Martha Stewart magazine. tipsntrends.com. Very informative and educational. I am a hairstylist from Carmel, Ca. I plan on trying out your Naturint hair coloring product soon.

Thank you for the tips. I previously washed my hair daily and now only wash it two to three times a week. It makes a huge difference. Any advice to prevent bozo hair in the morning? Currently I spritz it with water to get it under control or put my hair under the faucet if it it truly unruly. If needed I then add a little more product to keep the frizz down. One more question, in general is curly hair more controllable at one length or better if cut in layers? Your hair is beautiful!
    Thank you again! Rhonda

My Advice for controlling your hair in the morning would be to use a small amount of CC Cream! Massaging a small amount in the palm of your hand and gently applying throughout your hair. Moisturized curls are happy curls! As for your 2nd question, layering hair causes it to have much more volume. In your case I would suggest staying with one length until you are really looking to change up your style. I hope that helps!
